So you’ve just finished high school and you’re wondering whether or not to continue your studies. Should you set off to get your college degree and become a college graduate or try evening classes through an online college, allowing you to combine your studies with work?

You might even think that college is just high school continued, but it’s not. College opens doors for you that high-school education doesn’t. If you continue your studies you’ll gain information and skills from different college courses that you’ll be able to use for the rest of your life.

Furthermore, apart from the knowledge and information you’ll get, it might even assist you to reach a better financial future and gain some very important friends.

Here are our 5 Reasons to Go to College

1. Meet People and Network

I met many of my best friends while I was at college, and I even met my spouse while working a summer internship for college students. Some of my friends are even college professors or people that extremely are connected. These people have shaped my life tremendously and have helped me grow as a person, career wise and in my personal life. I could not imagine who or where I would be, without the many people who influenced me to become a college graduate.

2. Learn Something Through College Courses

It is true that many online degrees do not prepare you for the real world, either just give you lots of theoretical information. However, an online education is an opportunity to learn what you love and expand your knowledge base. Even though getting a College degree might seem like only getting a piece of paper, the information and skills that you will pick up during your time of studies will be highly valuable, allowing you to expand your horizons and conquer new ventures in the future.

3. Gain Financial Independence

For some people, this is not a want but a need. Times have really changed. Remember years ago when kids were forced to go out to work and had to become financially independent. In today’s modern world, parents do a lot for their children and many children are not as mature upon high school graduation as they used to be. A lot of high school graduates have never worked, paid a bill, or learned anything about personal finance. Getting a college degree can really give you a push and give you the tools you need to understand the financial world and reach success.

4. Figure Out Who You Are

I am not sure that I had any clue who I was when I began college or what I even wanted to do in life. Regarding my profession, I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go in, or what my real passions were. It took me leaving my family, my friends, my hometown, and their influences to begin to figure myself out. I literally had to go off to college, take a few college courses and become a college graduate to understand what I wanted to do in life. If you’re lost and don’t know how to move forward, going off to school might be the solution.

5. Don’t Forget to Have Some Fun

Sometimes I get a little sad thinking that my college years were the best time of my life. I had so much fun during that time. I will always be thankful I was able to have that experience. I met lots of new people, increased my knowledge and learned new things.

To Sum It all Up

Even if you are choosing community college or online college, instead of the traditional four-years away from home, many of these reasons still apply. Furthermore, the same reasons apply even if you are not a young teen but are simply young at heart and want a career change. The idea here is that continuing your studies can help you get on the right track, help you get that job you always wanted and become the person you were meant to be.
